Yesterday was the big day! We are officially Husband and Husband! Mr. & Mr. Yoberts* Ok, that’s not actually our married name. In fact, we chose to keep our ‘maiden’ names. Corey Roberts & Cristian Young.

Rehearsal Dinner Day! We're Drunk. It was a Success. Is it okay if we just upload photos?? Okay Great! Thenk u!
We rented our U-Haul for pick up this AM, still mourning the loss of our big break with toyota, and along with the help of some strong friends, we managed to get all of the plants to the venue. It actually turned out to be a pretty chill day. Everything is mostly taken care of at this point, and we enjoyed some brunch with Corey's family.
As promised, we're almost there. Here's our quick updates
It's definitely going to rain on the wedding day... we've lost all hope! So we're going to buy some umbrellas and blankets as well as coordinate possibly a tent with the venue! Corey got his haircut, and Cristian will be soon to follow. Family is starting to arrive and tomorrow we're moving the plants to the venue (we rented a U-Haul)! Also, the Sam's Club plants arrived.
With this week being the final push, we decided to try publishing a blog post each day to get you up to speed on what's happening Chez Yoberts!
Happy Birthday Cristian!!!
Poor baby angel! Haha – His birthday happens to be 7 days before the big day and we’ve all been a little negligent on the planning side! No worries! We shall all take respite from wedding planning and celebrate the birth of Mr. Cristian!
We’re getting pretty close to the big day! EEK! Corey’s mom arrives this weekend to help with some of the last minute details, but otherwise we think we’re in a pretty good place. Corey finalized the Jackson Shrub order (we changed our mind on some things.. oops!) and we’re at the point where everything is ordered. Fingers crossed for the weather on March 10th because the 2 week forecast thing says it’s cold and rainy…
Words out! We booked Cali Craft Cocktails for our wedding in March and we couldn’t’ be more thrilled to have them serving for the big day! We just finished a tasting with them and we’re even more excited than we were before. Can it be March 10 already?
We’re officially a month out from the wedding! OMG can’t believe it! It’s so crazy, etc. etc. etc! But really, can you beweave it?! We have a long laundry list of things to do however there’s one very important thing we haven’t done yet… PLANTS!
Remember that time we literally said Wedding Planner Schmedding Planner? Yeah… we get it. We really do. There are so many details to figure out for any wedding already and it seems like a complete extra set of decision to consider for a gay wedding!
Ok, maybe we’re not at that point in our relationship, but we did a little Black Friday shopping (on Sunday) for some wedding suits. At this point, as you know, we’ve been feeling a bit defeated by the suit industry. Cut to us walking into the Beverly Hills showroom of Indochino and being reborn as two wedding suit aficionado angel babies.
It's insane that we're at the point where invites are already going out! Thankfully the cardshop in Venice, remember the one where the cheapest they could do for invites was 1k, gave us their handy dandy invite guide! It told us to mail out invitations roughly 2-3 months before the date of the wedding.
Call us old school, but printing and hoarding wedding related paper is amazing! Our love of this possibly being a byproduct of Corey’s days planning events at Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism and/or the tutelage his boss, the queen of events, now our wedding officiant, Irena, plan many domestic and international events!
We're planning our rehearsal dinner! Also, we’re still trying so hard to not get caught up in wedding traditions that A. Cost thousands of dollars and B. We don’t understand. That said, We love the sentiment behind a rehearsal dinner and it's a must have for our wedding!
Here we are. Green suits still in the Asos boxes waiting to find their way back to the UK (bye!) and still looking for wedding suits.
Well – that’s half true. We love green and actually it’s Cristian’s favorite color.
What didn’t work out so much for us though was using green in anything beyond plants at our wedding. Hold that – maybe this is a blessing in disguise – a March wedding, with a lot of green? Idk - See us below*
The other day, we walked into our favorite lil card shop in Venice and started asking about wedding invitations and STD’s. No… while we’re passionate about advocating for sex-ed we don’t usually go up to strangers with our opinions about venereal diseases.
We’ve been told by everyone we know (except our moms) that a wedding planner is a must. Well guess what? We’re not getting one. Take that, everyone!
We're Engaged! We're Engaged! Did we tell you... We're Engaged!
We wanted to sit down and write an exposé on the whole situation, but as we sat down to draft it... everything kept sounding so weird coming from us directly. i.e. are we now saying, "this is Corey is typing," "and now this is Cristian."
