No, but we will be in 5 days!!

With this week being the final push, we decided to try publishing a blog post each day to get you up to speed on what's happening Chez Yoberts!

The big win for today was getting our marriage license! The whole license thing has been pretty funny. Background: in the states, you have to go to a state courthouse shortly before your wedding to get a marriage license. It's basically a half-filled out form that you bring to the wedding and have you and your officiant sign affirming that you actually got married. There was def a period of time where we thought marriage license = married. But alas, it's not so glamorous...

Here's how it went down. A week or two ago, we went online and filled out a questionnaire asking about our info and our parents' info. That was our application for a marriage license. That gave us a confirmation code that we had to print out and bring to the courthouse within 90 days. For a second we thought we'd need to go all the way to the courthouse in downtown LA, but luckily any old courthouse will do. So this morning we drove the 10 minutes to the Beverly Hills courthouse, looked for parking for about 10 minutes, and walked about 10 minutes from the parking garage to the courthouse. Cristian printed out the confirmation code and then left it at home. Lucky for us Corey's mom is already in town and she texted us a picture of it. After passing through metal detectors and riding a haunted elevator (it took us to the basement multiple times before a security guard reset it), we went to the 3rd floor for the marriage license office.

While the hallway was rather grand, the same can't be said of the office. It was a combo situation for marriage licenses and traffic tickets. We waited in the traffic ticket line for a hot second before realizing the marriage license line was just empty and right next to us. Fast forward three minutes and we're holding our right hands up promising a lady behind plexiglass that we are who we say we are and that we haven't been married before. She asked how many official marriage licenses we wanted to receive (Corey said 1, Cristian said 2 just because why not?) and gave us instructions on what to do with the marriage license the day we get married. After bidding the plexiglass lady adieu and giving her $120, we were on our way!

As we headed down the grand hallway again, we met an adorable hetero couple getting married the same day as us. They assured us it was a good day to come in because apparently Wednesdays and Fridays the courthouse performs marriages on site so the wait can be loco. The guy also complimented our rings so we obvi love them and wish them the best <3

Kk signing off for the night! Today we also made great headway on gifts for our groomspeople, took Cristian's suit to the tailor so an urgent last minute alteration (the boy has calves, what can he say?), and had a meeting with the DJ to confirm music selections. Let's see what tomorrow has in store! Want us to cover anything in particular? Let us know!
