Profesh Wine Tasters... Drinkers
It’s official. We "tasted" wine and now we’re experts. That’s a lie. We still know nothing about wine.
Basically, we’re DIY’ing the rehearsal dinner (Re: 15K quote from the LA restaurant Eveleigh) and part of that process entails choosing wine for 50 people to enjoy for 4 hours.
NO EASY TASK!
Naturally we called our two best frands Sarah and Danny, who also don’t know wine, to come over and taste wine with us. We also called Emily and Laura from Yarpertime (inspo: Yummertime) but they were busy traveling home from Thanksgiving in Chicago!! So rude.
It was a blind tasting. We chose 3 moderately priced wines and 1 cheap-o which we then referred to as A, B, C, & D.
We then watched a HOW TO TASTE WINE youtube video (obviously) and we instantly became experts. They said to use a light beer to cleanse the palette - so we used leftover Modelo in the fridge. We also put out some Mozzarella because we like cheese.
We came up with a lil rating scale of 1-5 for drinkability and overall favorite. We also wanted to measure smokiness and sweetness.
In the end, We went through each of our favorites and defended them. Ultimately we all chose the $10 Casone from Trader Joes with hardly any debate!
Well, Sarah picked the $4 wine then the $20 then ultimately the $10 Casone. YAY we all agreed.
THEN!
We went to O B Bear in Korea Town, which if you haven’t been, you must go! Best Korean Fried Chicken in LA! Hands Down.
In conclusion, This was a really fun night. For a couple couples who drink wine without much thought, it was really interesting to stop and think about what we were gravitating towards and why. It was also an excuse to get a little tipsy and then NEED fried chicken.
