Make A Dining Table For $80
Hacking things is so in rn. And thank god because we need a new dining table and our budget is less than... well, any table we could find online.
So here we go. A good ol' Ikea Hack!
This is our old forsaken table.
Our first romp at Ikea left us with this dinky white tulip table.
If you have it we mean no shade.
It's cute but it wasn't practical for us. We could barely have 2 laptops on it before suddenly it was over-crowded and borderline unusable. The draahhma.
Anyways.
Cut to us on a Sunday in Ikea - waltzing around when suddenly we were all, "Hey, want to see if they have any bases for tables we could use to make a new one?" Answer: YES We found this white frame for $40. It was Perfect for our much needed rectangle dining table upgrade!
For the top - we really like wood, so we drove across the street to Home Depot and had them cut a piece of plywood to size.
We did 59" x 31" and it fit perfectly.
Then we did what any self respecting millennial consumers would do and stopped at Starbucks for iced americani before driving home to build our new $80 dream table. Oh yeah, and we stopped for some screws. Probably the wrong size in the end, but they worked fine.
To make the table, all you really need to do is build the base, lay it on top of the wood and screw in. We definitely recommend measuring everything so it's centered and doesn't wobble - no one wants a drunk table.
Side Note: We used a Satin Finish Poly coat to protect the table from wine spillage (there's a lot here) and to keep it's original natural look.
