Hiking Through The Angeles

Runyon Is CLOOOOOSED (temporarily)! But... We found an amazing substitute at San Gabriel Peak

We're speechless.

This is a great intermediate/ beginner-ish hike. It's going to give you a few thrills, definitely bring water and go earlier in the A.M. We made the mistake of rolling up around 11:30am by the point we reached the peak... it was very hot. Live & learn. It takes roughly 1.5 hours to get to the peak so ignore google's estimates (1.5 hours round trip... you're hiking up a mountain for peats sake).

Put into your google maps Mt. Lowe East. It's the trailhead and already boasts breathtaking views. Head straight into the trail from the lot, hella convenient! You'll pass through a tunnel at about midway through the walk to the San Gabriel Trail. This area has a lot of different options but we'll focus on just the one. Once you get to the green water tower, you'll take the trail to the right. That's the way to San Gabriel Peak. When that reaches a dead end, Turn Right to head to the summit. In all, it'll take a while, but it's worth every instagram photo in gold!
