We're baaaaaack! And we've got our socks on!!
It’s been a while and we misssssed you!!!
We’ve got so much to catch you up on! We owe you stories of going camping in Big Sur, moving Cristian’s family into their new California home, and staying in a yurt in Malibu! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…
We’re packing right now for a 10-day trip to the East Coast and reflecting on one statement piece we’ve packed, socks! Yep, socks: aka airplane shoes, aka social justice tokens!
This cute little Southern California company called Sock Problems (get it???) sent all three of us (Xander too!), some of their socks during Pride month and we’ve been meaning to tell you about them. They didn’t pay us for this, promise, we just really believe in what they’re doing.
Sock Problems has lots of sock designs and each one is made in partnership with a specific charity. And part of the money you spend on the socks goes back to that charity! We’ve got two lines, Sock Inequality, which supports PFLAG, and Sock Hate, which supports The Trevor Project. Our hearts literally melted into giant puddles of mush when we learned that these socks were doing so much good! Both of these organizations are doing so so much for the queer community and we love that this is such a straightforward way of supporting them!
Remember, pride isn’t just one month a year. And these organizations need support more than ever before. The Trevor Project is actively saving young LGBTQ lives. And PFLAG is a beautiful organization of parents of LGBTQ people who are advocating for a just world.
As Gloria Steinem reminded us in the Barbie documentary (yep, that happened), you have two ways of making your voice heard: with your vote and with your wallet. That idea really stuck with us which is why you might have noticed us featuring or partnering with stuff our post for Abercrombie’s Made For Love collection benefiting The Trevor Project, our interview for The Uprising Brand advocating for creative expression, Brandless fighting hunger, or Sock Problems standing up for all sorts of causes. You get to vote every once in a while, folks, but you get to speak with your wallet a lot more often!
We love Sock Problems, but if you’re looking for other social motivated ways to buy things that support the Trevor Project, you can also check our this page of other partners of theirs!
K we love you and can't wait to keep you more up to date on what's going on over here. Leave us a comment because it gives us all the feels!! In the meantime, we'll be sipping a glass of rosé while we fight the good fight in our socks :P
